No matter your keyboard on-hand currently is a new one just out of the box or an old one which you have used for several years, there must be also some unknown features on your keyboard. There are several ways to know your keyboard better, for example, browse the keyboard manufacturer’s official website, review the literature that came with your keyboard or let yourself familiar with the layout of the keys.
2. Do Keyboard Settings Personally on Windows 7
After having a overview on your keyboard, there are some basic settings you can do to improve your efficiency and accuracy.
To change the delay before your computer keyboard characters repeat
- Click Start button to open Keyboard Properties, and then open Control Panel. Type keyboard in the search box and then click Keyboard.
- Under Character repeat option, drag the Repeat delay slider to left or right, in order to increase or decrease the time you need to spend on holding down a key before the keyboard character repeats.
- Finally press OK.
- Click Start button to open Keyboard Properties, and then open Control Panel. Type keyboard in the search box and then click Keyboard.
- Under Character repeat option, drag the Repeat rate slider to left to reduce the keyboard characters repeating speed, or move it to the right to increase the repeating speed.
- Finally press OK.
- Click Start button to open Keyboard Properties, and then open Control Panel. Type keyboard in the search box and then click Keyboard.
- Drag the Cursor blink rate slider to left or right to change the cursor blink speed.
- Finally press OK.
